To finish off the month of May, one of the highlights of The Field’s seminal 2007 album From Here We Go Sublime! To be listened to Everyday!
This is a mix of 80s New Wave, Disco, House and everything that falls inbetween. Lovely 2014 release from the (Emotional) Especial label.
Paydo Komma are a trip-hop band from Niš, Serbia. Have a listen to this truly fun song Dijagnosticarska, which comes from their 2014 LP Strano.
Khidja are a Romanian DJ duo whose track Mustafa blends Balearic with Ottomanic.
I had a few listens to Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports (1981). Nick Mason is of course Pink Floyd’s drummer, but apparently most of the credit should go to Carla Bley (she wrote all the songs and co-produced it) and to Robert Wyatt who sings on all songs (but the first one).
Most of all, I enjoy the lyrics on this record – I Was Wrong is a case in point. And it’s groovy as well.
Nosaj Thing is sharing a new song from his upcoming album Fated.
Už jsme doma are an alternative/experimental rock band from Czech Republic who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.
Mariana is one of their most recent releases.
The Residents are an American avant-garde collective who have released over 60 albums. I definitely discovered them too late…
I love the drums over white-noise at the end of this song. Life Goes Off is a fitting ending track from O’Rourke’s 2001 album Insignificance, while he released a new record Simple Songs in 2015.
