The Raincoats – Babydog

Babydog is one of these songs you just can’t believe exist, while simultaneously wonder why we needed to wait until 1996 to come up with such a theme. The lyrical content about a woman (toying with the idea of) acquiring a dog as a substitute for a baby presents itself as oddly ordinary and provocative at the same time.

The Raindogs are a British (mostly female) post-punk act worth looking into more.
